35That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side."36Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
39He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
41They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"
It really is interesting and rather intriguing when you read this passage. The 12 disciples, having travelled with and witnessed Jesus' miraculous powers and heard him preach mind-blowing truths from Mark 1-4, were of course one of the closer people to Jesus at that point of time. However, when the storm came, they panicked. When Jesus stilled the storm, they were terrified of him. And all Jesus had to say was "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
It's really interesting how sometimes we might have gone through numerous things with God and tasted His goodness BUT somehow we STILL have no faith in Him. How, in the midst of the storm, we find it so hard to trust in Him and feel that we have to paddle away from the storm with all our might and that we would rather do that then come to the fact that this is a storm; letting my heart be still and fully trust in the ways of my God.
Exodus 14:14
14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still."
Even in the midst of the exams period, I really want to give my best to prepare for the (stormy) exams but at the same time do it God's way not mine; not compromising on His Word AT ALL. Looking forward to another stormy yet exciting experience. :)
