Who is the God you know?

Was reading (like finally!!!) a Christian literature and this was a thought the author gave to ponder over.

Who is the God you know?

Is the God you know full of grace and mercy and compassion? Is the God you know mysterious, surprising, captivating? Is he forever unchanging and yet always brand new? Does he inspire you with his big ideas about how your life can really count? Is he faithful?

My answer is yes. However, sometimes the life that some of us (including myself) live more often than not, doesn't really reflect much of all that has been mentioned above about God. And why not?

Let's turn the clocks back a little to our pre-Christian days. Remember the times when you would get up in the morning and realize once AGAIN that it's another day AGAIN. It's the same ol' thing and you just have this dread and "sian"-sation of having to complete your quota of daily rituals and acts. Sometimes you wonder why you even bother and what purpose is there? (Note that there is a difference in seeing the value/benefit in doing something and seeing the purpose in doing something.)

The truth is that throughout the course of our lives, we're going to give our lives to something. We will. All people do. They give their lives to pleasure or to possessions, to attain popularity or to the acquisition of more power. But always to something. And so the question comes: What am I giving my life to?

There is nothing else in this world, nothing, that is more worthy of us giving our lives to than God himself. Truly, a God who didn't owe us even a single spec worth of dust who came out of His comfort zone, walked through the cosmos and came to earth in flesh to show His love for us and guide us to live life as He had meant for it to be. Everything else will be fade away at the end of the day, but God remains the same for eternity.

Truth be told, we all need God whether you like the sounds of it or not. And I want to give my life to Him and in doing so, live out the life that points others around me to God. It's not going to be easy. But if I truly love God and understand that people need God, I will seize every opportunity that I have to point others to Christ through big ways or even the smallest of ways.

Blessed to be a blessing, that's what I wanna be.
